The Mobile Expert Team Long-term Disorder of Consciousness
Long-term disorders of consciousness and other hyporesponsive syndromes are extremely rare in the Netherlands. EENnacoma therefore supports healthcare providers with a nationally operating team of specialized experts: the Mobile Expert Team Long-Term Consciousness Disorders (MET-LBS). The MET-LBS provides low-threshold consultations on location and is also available for telephone advice.
The MET-LBS:
- indicates for Early Intensive Neurorehabilitation (VIN) and other forms of specialist LBS care;
- provides diagnostic and therapeutic support;
- I think of moral dilemmas;
- is available for second opinions in hyporesponsive syndromes.
Consult requests
The MET-LBS is an intercollegiate service and only comes into action at the invitation of the attending physician. For the time being, no costs will be charged for the referrer. The team is coordinated from the Radboudumc and staffed by experts from various healthcare institutions affiliated with EENnacoma.
The experts of the MET-LBS
The permanent experts of the MET-LBS are Amanda van Doremalen (Physician assistant at the Early Intensive Neurorehabilitation department of Libra Rehabilitation & Audiology, location Leijpark) and dr. Willemijn van Erp (Specialist in geriatric medicine and scientist at Radboudumc).

Libra Rehabilitation & Audiology and Radboud university medical center are affiliated with the Expertise Network for Severe Acquired Brain Injury after coma (EENnacoma). The experts of the MET-LBS are regularly accompanied in their work by fellow healthcare providers (whether or not in training) and by scientists.
