Introduction

A standard of care is a means to improve the quality of care for people with a chronic condition. This standard of care describes what adults with traumatic brain injury (THL) and their loved ones can expect in terms of care from the moment the brain injury occurs. It is a functional description: it is about what care should be provided at what time and in what way. The standard of care does not describe who provides the care. It is up to the regional providers, the municipalities and the health insurers to implement this.
