Long-term disorders of consciousness (practice): Towards appropriate care and a closed care chain.

Lavrijsen, J., van Erp, W., & Overbeek, B.

1 February 2019

After a long history and a recent report on appropriate care, the care pathway for people with a long-term disorder of consciousness will look different from 2019. For example, the age limit of 25 years for Early Intensive Neurorehabilitation will be abolished and a care program has been developed from nursing homes for the Long-Term Intensive Neurorehabilitation that follows. All this is embedded in an expertise network that connects practice, research and education. Based on their involvement in these developments, the authors present the road to a closed care chain, with tips for practice. They describe the latest current affairs in Actueel.
