As a geriatric specialist in Amsterdam, I have been involved in the care of people with severe brain injury for many years. This is such a serious brain injury that the people who have experienced this have to live in a nursing home. The problems are complex, the care often intensive. The guidance of family/informal care also requires a lot of attention and expertise. Gradually my knowledge about the possibilities and impossibilities of care and treatment has increased. As a treating physician, I hope to be able to do a lot for this target group.
