Working with people with severe ABI, with or without a disorder of consciousness, challenges me enormously as a GZ psychologist. There are hardly any appropriate protocols that we can apply in the diagnosis or treatment of disorders caused by the brain injury. With each client, we have to offer tailor-made solutions with the entire multidisciplinary team and investigate what the best treatment is to promote rehabilitation or quality of life.
The care for people with severe ABI or a disorder of consciousness is in full development. I would like to contribute to better care for clients now and in the future by developing care programs, looking at diagnostic tools with other psychologists and investigating the possibilities of appropriate treatment.
